Description

The North American RB-45C Tornado was an American reconnaissance and photo reconnaissance aircraft from the Cold War period. The prototype flight took place in April 1950. Production and conversion lasted from June 1950 to October 1951. In total, 38 copies of this aircraft were built. The drive was provided by four motors General Electric J47-GE-13 turbojets of 23 kN each . The machine was approx. 23 m long with a wingspan of approx. 27.1 m.

The North American RB-45C Tornado was created as a far-reaching modification of the B-45 Tornado bomber. First of all, the bombardier's cabin was closed, and in its place an extensive system of cameras and cameras. The machine also received a total of 12 cameras and cameras intended for observation and aerial photography. The RB-45C model was also able to carry two discarded fuel tanks with a capacity of 810 liters each, which of course had a positive effect on the increase in the flight range. In total, 38 aircraft of this type were built, of which 5 were produced "from scratch", and 33 were made as conversions of B-45C bombers. RB-45C Tornado planes served in the USAF and RAF.
