Description

The FM-2 is an F-4 Wildcat aircraft manufactured by General Motors under Grumman's license. The FM-2 plane was identical to the XF4-F8 prototype. The FM-2 was distinguished primarily by the new, powerful Wright R-1820-56W engine with a power of 1369KM, which allowed for good performance despite the increase in weight.

A total of 4,407 fighters of this type were manufactured at General Motors, of which the last production series were equipped with guides for HVAR unguided missiles. Production of the FM-2 continued in 1943-45. The last produced variant of this version was the reconnaissance machine designated as FM-2P.
