Aoshima 1/700 Scale British Aircraft Carrier HMS Hermes Model Kit

HMS Hermes was the first ship in the world to be designed from the keel up as an aircraft carrier (the Hōshō of the IJN was the first to be commissioned); although construction was started during the First World War, she wasn't commissioned until 1924. HMS Hermes spent much of the inter-war years helping develop multi-carrier tactics in the Mediterranean, and showing the flag at the China station.

During the Second World War, Hermes was involved in a number of actions off the coast of Africa, and in the Middle East, including attacking the French battleship Richelieu by means of her embarked Swordfish biplanes. HMS Hermes was eventually sunk by several dozen Japanese dive bombers in April 1942.
